Some People's Children....

Image
What would you think if someone asked you to protect their child over yours? I'm going to let that sink in for a moment. Now the word "child" is relative in this particular instance.  I don't necessarily mean child, as in small one, but child as in the offspring of another.  An adult is still someone's child, even at 30. A little further into the question:  What if the things the other person's child did directly affected yours?  This person is fully aware of their own actions and believes him/her self to be totally in the right.  The parent could be asking for mercy due to their own personal issues and are somewhat unaware of their child's behavior.  The kind of parent who believes their child will simply change their ways based on a call and a little fussing.  Would you still take this parents request into consideration? Sometimes there are extenuating circumstances that prevent a person from doing what they should.  Family illnesses, tra...

Politics, Rape, and June Cleaver

Roe Vs. Wade   I've been mulling over this rape issue in the media.  There have been some amazing, surprising, not-surprising, reprehensible and thoughtless things that have fallen out of the mouths of men we pay to make our laws.  It all began as a shock value statement in regard to abortion.  That's a subject that will never be settled, period.  Every person, male and female has an opinion about it, some are religious based, some are science based, some are simply what they feel in their gut to be right or wrong.  With the media culture running wild and free these days, we are focusing more and more on the extremes in people.  The GOP is trying very hard to combat a very left wing President and Congress right now, both sides are fighting for control so they're both going balls out to make a point.  No one is filtering, on one is thinking, and they are all trying to shock the people into doing what they want.  The simple fact remains ...

Is your home sacred to you?

What's considered sacred anymore?  Or is anything?....most folks would say, a church or a temple, or perhaps an idea, or even that car they spent far too much money on and only drive on Sundays or for car shows.  What do you hold sacred?  Or do you hold anything sacred?  What about the house you live in? I read something the last night in reference to the holiday Lammas (Aug 1st).  It is the celebration of the first seasonal harvest, it is meant to give thanks and reverence to all the men and women gone before who had to struggle off the land and rely on that first harvest so they had a firm start for winter.  It is a moment in time to hold your hearth and home sacred, because that is exactly what they should be.  Your home is supposed to be the place you work for, you sleep soundly at night, is a direct reflection of your person and your family.  Whether it's a modest apartment or a large ornate house, it's your home.  The place where yo...
